THE TROPHY
One of the most prestigious and respected club racing series ion the UK, the MG Trophy is the crown jewel of the MG Car Club.
Using fully race-prepared MG ZRs split into three different classes, the standard of driving and quality of racing is among the best in the UK, with former participants including British Touring Car Championship race winner Jack Goff.
The 2021 season consists of 12 rounds across 6 race weekends, taking in some of the UK finest race circuits. A 20-minute qualifying session and 2 x 20-minute sprint races see three different classes battling for championship points.
THE CAR
One of the finest hot-hatches of the early 2000s, the MG ZR feels as if it was made for racing. Utilising a superb chassis and powerful 1.8-litre K Series VVC engine, it's capable of lapping the UK's most challenging circuits faster than many – far newer – production sports cars.
Having bought his ZR 170 in 2019, James and Paul have put considerable time and money into making it one of the most competitive (and best looked-after!) cars on the grid.
